Research Analyst

Eastridge Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Research Analyst to join the Research & Knowledge Management department of a leading law firm. This position will provide sophisticated legal and business research support to attorneys and business professionals across the firm. The Research Analyst will work as part of a collaborative Research Services team, conducting complex research, leveraging traditional and AI-enabled research platforms, and delivering clear, actionable findings. This role reports to the Director of Research & Knowledge Management.

Location: Hybrid – San Diego, CA; Phoenix, AZ; or Denver, CO

Remote: May be considered for candidates outside reasonable commuting distance of these offices

Schedule: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex legal and business research and provide clear, concise summaries of findings.
  • Research case law, statutes, regulations, dockets, trial court filings, expert witnesses, judicial and attorney analytics, verdicts, and settlements.
  • Utilize AI-enabled research tools and advanced search technologies to improve research efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop effective AI prompts and validate AI-generated results against authoritative sources.
  • Consult with attorneys and business professionals to clarify research needs, determine appropriate research strategies, and communicate findings.
  • Advise users on the selection and effective use of legal, business, and financial research resources.
  • Provide training and point-of-need guidance on research platforms and resources.
  • Track research requests through the department's ticket-management system and record billable research time.
  • Assist with communications highlighting Research Services resources, capabilities, and tools.
  • Evaluate new and existing research platforms and provide feedback regarding their value to the firm.
  • Identify opportunities to improve research processes, workflows, and service delivery.
  • Stay current on emerging research technologies, AI tools, methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in department meetings, knowledge sharing, training, and professional development.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with firm policies and research-resource licensing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution preferred/accepted.
  • 4+ years of law firm research services experience required.
  • Practical legal experience is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge across multiple areas of law.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting sophisticated legal and business research.
  • Proficiency with major research platforms such as Westlaw Precision, Lexis+, Bloomberg Law, Practical Guidance, Practical Law, VitalLaw, CourtLink, D&B Hoovers, S&P Capital IQ, or comparable resources.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools for legal or business research, including prompt development, evaluation of AI-generated content, and validation against authoritative sources.
  • Familiarity with time-entry, billing, and ticket-management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex research into concise, useful findings.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, service-oriented approach with strong attention to detail and responsiveness.
