IT Help Desk Technician Tier I (Entry-Level)

Maule Technologies a managed IT services provider based in Albuquerque, NM. We're looking for an entry-level IT Help Desk Technician to join our team and grow into a long-term IT career. This role is a great fit whether you're a recent certification or degree graduate, already have some hands-on tech support experience, or have little formal experience but a genuine drive to work in technology and a track record of teaching yourself new skills.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with participation in an on-call rotation. The role requires travel between client sites and covers administration, installation, implementation, and support of client technology systems, with training and mentorship provided as you build your skills.

Essential Functions

  • Provide phone, in-person, and online support to all users with a strong focus on customer service
  • Perform new-user setups and installations, and carry out hardware refresh-cycle deployments
  • Diagnose and repair computers, phones, printers, and peripheral equipment, escalating complex issues to senior technicians as needed
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and perform routine maintenance as needed
  • Help end users navigate systems and resolve technical issues
  • Log all issues and work performed in the ticketing system
  • Communicate regularly with team members and management on ongoing work and projects

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Foundational technical and troubleshooting skills in a Windows environment
  • Basic understanding of computer networks; willingness to build deeper network troubleshooting skills on the job
  • A genuine interest in technology and problem-solving, whether demonstrated through work experience, coursework, certifications, or self-directed learning and personal projects
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Self-motivated, with the initiative to get the job done with minimal oversight
  • Good verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow technical skills through mentorship and on-the-job training
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work full-time hours and participate in the on-call support rotation

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • No prior professional IT experience required, but preferred

Preferred

  • Associate's degree or relevant coursework in IT or a related field
  • Entry-level IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) or actively pursuing one
  • Personal or academic experience troubleshooting computers, networks, or devices
  • Experience in the legal industry or another professional services setting
